How to Use the Order File Maker
The Order File Maker is a tool used to create an order string that you can place in a text file or email.Its main use is to help you understand how orders are formatted in TradeBullet.
Just fill out the form and the order will appear in the text box at the bottom. You can copy the order to the clipboard by clicking on the Copy button.
The Order File Maker is provided to help you verify that your charting application's order file code is valid. Once the order is complete, you can copy the order to the Windows clipboard.
- Select the Command that indicates the type of order.
Place - To initiate a new order
Cancel - To cancel an existing open order. The
OrderId must also be supplied.
Change - To modify an existing open order. The OrderId must also be supplied.
Cancel All - To cancel all open orders with one command.
Close All - To close (latten) all open positions with one command. - Enter the Account Name (i.e. the account number).
- Enter the Symbol. See How to Enter Symbols.
- Select the Exchange on which to send the order. The Default exchange is SMART with Interactive Brokers.
- Select the order Action type. Buy to Cover and Sell Short are provided for compatibility but currently supported brokers do not require the use of these Action types.
- Enter the order Quantity. Fractional numbers are not allowed.
- Select the Order Type.
- Enter the Stop price, if any.
- Enter the Limit price, if any.
- Select the Time In Force (also called duration). Some brokers do not support both Day and G ood T il C ancelled.
- Enter the OrderId. Only necessary when Command is either Cancel or Change.
- Enter your System Name. Optional.
- Enter the order's OCA Group (Order Cancels All). There can be an unlimited number of orders in a OCA Group. As soon as one order in the group is executed or cancelled, all other orders are cancelled. Optional.
- The text order is displayed here.
- Click on the Copy button to copy the order to the Windows clipboard.
